ADAPTIVE RIDING

PATH Intl. Certified Instructors provide a unique combination of sport, recreation, and education!

the benefits of riding

To an individual with a disability, horseback riding takes them into a new and unexplored world which provides a sense of independence and freedom that defies the disability.  Adaptive riding activities provide benefits in areas of socialization, friendship and overall improvement of life.  Riders are challenged in ways they have seldom been challenged before…and they love every minute of it!

NO WAITING LISTS! We'll just add an instructor to accommodate your rider.

THE SPECIFICS

Adaptive riding lessons use adaptive teaching techniques and/or equipment to help riders learn riding and horsemanship skills through instruction from a PATH Intl. Certified Instructor and assisted by volunteers to lead the horse or walk along with the rider when necessary.

In 2024 Mane Stream offers 30-minute riding lessons to those 4 years or older in private ($65) and semi-private (2:1) ($55) lesson format with riders of similar age and abilities.

To learn more about adaptive riding please check out our policies and procedures, which covers weight limits, payment, cancellation polices and much more.

MORE INFORMATION

ALL ABOUT SAFETY
All riders must bring their own ASTM/SEI approved equestrian helmet. To ensure the correct fit Use this 5-Point Safety Helmet Check. Riding equipment will be customized to each riders' needs. A custom built mounting ramp and the Sure-Hands lift allow easy accessibility for riders using wheelchairs. Parents/guardians are expected to stay while a lesson is taking place. And finally, 1-3 specially trained volunteers will be paired with each rider depending on their needs.

THE GOAL
The goal of riding is for each rider to become as independent as possible. Our instructors customize lessons to each rider’s needs. The horses in our program are calm and dependable, and are capable of helping our riders walk, trot, canter, and even jump. Our horses also enjoy trail rides and games.

FALL HORSE SHOW
Each year riders have the opportunity to show off the skills that they have been working on all year. There is even a class for summer campers! Ribbons are awarded for each class and Top Honors are given for high point independent Rider and high point junior rider under 21.
