Those 14 years and older may participate in program activities at Mane Stream.
No experience with either horses or individuals with disabilities needed;
we provide our own orientation and training sessions.

Volunteers are needed on a daily basis from Monday to Saturday. Volunteers become part of the Mane Stream team. You will
participate in grooming, tacking the horses prior to lessons, and either leading the horse or sidewalking for our adaptive riding lessons, therapy (OT, PT, Speech-Language) sessions or other equine assisted activities programs. Additional opportunities include helping out with everything from office tasks, barn chores and maintenance.
COMMITMENTS/REQUIREMENTS
Your Time Commitment: 2-6 hours weekly during a typical 6-16 week session
WHAT'S REQUIRED?
You must attend a Mane Stream virtual orientation and 1 hands-on (in-person) training sessions which will cover horse behavior, safety, grooming, tacking, sidewalking and leading skills.

1. Complete our online Volunteer Registration (applications are valid for 1 year*)
* After 1 year applications will be deleted from Volgistics if you have not attended an orientation.
2. Virtual Orientations will be held twice monthly until the end of September 2024. RSVP to be added to the list volunteer@manestreamnj.org.
3. Read through the Volunteer Manual and watch the Training Videos before completing the new volunteer quiz. Any questions will be answered during the virtual orientation.
4. A hands-on Training session will be scheduled after you complete your virtual orientation.
BECOME A CAMP BUDDY
Your help is needed to provide the best experience for our campers of all abilities. You will assist with all aspects of camp, including horsemanship skills, riding lessons, horse-related games and crafts. Camp runs for 10 consecutive weeks starting Mid-June. Each week runs M-F from 8:30-12:30. Every volunteer will need to update their signed camp paperwork each year. All Camp Buddies must complete a state-mandated training presentation. We’ve made it easy…it’s ONLINE!

CAMP UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
Every summer we need 3-4 interns (College Students) who will assist in organizing activities and supervising volunteers for our summer camp for children of all abilities. Ideal opportunity for individuals looking for experience working with horses and children with special needs. We are happy to work with college and university internship departments so interns can get credit for their time at Mane Stream.

ONE-DAY WORKGROUPS
We welcome Corporate groups, scout troops and high school student groups who want to offer their time to assist with one-day or short-term projects, such as trail clearing, fence painting, landscaping, cleaning, and tack sales. Spend either full or half a day volunteering on the farm!

SHOES FOR SHOES
Mane Stream partners with Funds2orgs.com to keep shoes out of landfills, provide affordable footwear to people in developing nations and raise much needed funds for our farrier costs for the Mane Stream herd. We place 25 pairs of shoes into clear plastic bags provided by Funds2orgs.com. When we have 100 bags we call for a pickup and then a check for $1000 is sent to Mane Stream!
